Description:
Value engineering provides an equal or better quality product while reducing the total cost. This is accomplished through a methodical procedure of review and analysis during the project’s design and development phase. An accurate assessment by a trained group of engineers will contribute to a cost-efficient project in which both contractor and owner benefit.

Instructors:
Laurie Dennis, PE, CVS
Laurie is an Associate of RH & Associates as well as the principal of Dennis Consulting in Olympia, Washington. She has over 20 years experience in engineering design, construction, and project management. She graduated from Oregon State University in Corvallis in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science  degree in Civil Engineering. She also received her Bachelor of Science degree in Construction from Arizona State in 1983. Laurie has conducted and been a team member of numerous formal Value Analysis/Engineering workshops for a broad range of projects in both the public and private sectors. She has participated in all phases of a project from site evaluation and value engineering through bid and award.

Renee Hoekstra, AVS
Renee is the President of RH & Associates. She has over 15 years of experience in architecture, civil engineering and construction industry. She is also certified Associate Value Specialist. Renee has facilitated over 200 planning, design and construction projects for public sector clients throughout the United States. Her experience working with public agencies and her familiarity with the challenges and limitations which can often be associated with public sector projects is very valuable during the analysis/engineering workshops.
