ASPHALT PAVING FUNDAMENTALS SEMINAR

Objectives:

This one-day course intends to familiarize attendees with the basic principals of Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement Construction.  There will be emphasis on the general understandings of hot-mix materials, mix production, placing and compaction procedures, quality control/acceptance criteria, and causes & cures for segregation.

Who Should Attend:

The seminar has been designed for the engineer, technicians, and contractor personnel responsible for quality control of asphalt paving materials, mix design procedures, and operation of asphalt mix facilities agencies, airport/harbor authorities, paving contractors, mix producers, consulting engineers, and testing laboratories.

Instructor:

R.E. "Bob" Campbell, Consultant

Mr. Bob Campbell has forty-two years experience in engineering, from theory to hands-on.  He is experienced in all types and phases of pavement work.  Bob is an approved National Highway Institute (NHI) Instructor.  He is responsible for carrying out within the Lexington, Kentucky district the Asphalt Institute's programs of research, engineering services and education.  He is dedicated to education - the transfer of technology in all aspects of the use of asphalt:  Asphalt as a Material, Aggregates, Mix Design, SuperPave binders and SuperPave mix design, Thickness Design, Mix Production, Construction Techniques and Maintenance Practices for Asphalt pavements.  He also worked on special research projects such as life cycle costing, pavement selection criteria, VMA studies, and comparative thickness design studies.
