DCS Photo Modeler
Hawaii motorists may be seeing some relief from traffic tie-ups caused
by fatal and near-fatal crash investigations.
Police traffic investigators from all islands will be participating in a
Photogrammetry workshop at Maui Community College, Laulima 227 from
April 15-17, 2002. Photogrammetry is used to determine measurements of
crime or crash scenes through the use of digital images and computer
software. The ultimate goal is to reduce the amount of time
investigators need to measure crash scenes, thereby reducing traffic
tie-ups, especially on principal arteries.
The instructor is Lee DeChant of DCS, Inc. of Bellevue, Washington. The
training is being sponsored by the Maui Police Department, State of
Hawaii Safe Communities Program, and the Hawaii Local Technical
Assistance Program which operates out of the University of Hawaii
Department of Civil Engineering.
